Amendment 5

Amendment 5 lists all the rights of people acussed of a crime. It saves people from getting punished for a crime they didn't do and gives everyone the right to a fair trial.

Importance of this Amendment

This amendment is important because people shouldn't get punished for a crime they may not have done especially with a severe punishment like death, prison, or loss of rights. People also should not have to testify against themselves, and this law protects people from self-incrimination. Self-incrimination is accusing yourself for a crime. This amendment is also important because a person accused of a crime is entitled to a fair and equal treatment, this is called due process.
